Located near Dungannon, Virginia, the beautiful scenery along this river is easily accessible from a walking trail converted from the railroad track that once ran along its banks. The Guest River Gorge Trail meanders through 300-million-year-old sandstone cliffs that plunge 400 feet to the pristine waters below. This deep gorge was created by the Guest River, now designated as a state scenic river, as it tunneled through Stone Mountain on its way toward the Clinch River.
