It is December. As the lights of a distant community begin to glow, an ancient Mulberry stands as a lonely sentinel against the early darkness of a winter’s night. It has endured the passing of many such nights, and of winters harsh and mild. Eventually it must submit to the unyielding demands of time. But not this season.
